ABES-ES participa de cerimônia do projeto de reflorestamento na Bacia Hidrográfica de Barra Seca e Foz do Rio Doce

A presidente da ABES-ES, Nadja Lima Gorza, esteve presente, no dia 10 de novembro, na cerimônia de assinatura do Termo de Cooperação Técnica para o desenvolvimento do projeto de reflorestamento na Bacia Hidrográfica de Barra Seca e Foz do Rio Doce, entre o Governo do Estado – por meio da Secretaria de Estado do Meio Ambiente e Recursos Hídricos (Seama) – e demais parcerias.

Desde 2011, quando o Governo do Estado do Espírito Santo lançou o programa Reflorestar, cerca de 5 mil hectares já foram incorporados, atendendo até agora aproximadamente 1.800.

Recentemente, o programa passou por algumas revisões consolidadas na lei 10.583 de 18/10/16, sendo uma das principais mudanças a abertura para a celebração de parcerias público-privadas e o repasse dos recursos para os pagamentos de serviços ambientais (PSA) diretamente pelo Banco do Desenvolvimento do Espírito Santo (Bandes).

A assinatura do Termo de Cooperação marca a chegada ao Espírito Santo da iniciativa Coalizão Cidades pela Água, coordenada pela The Nature Conservancy, a maior organização ambiental do mundo. Com o objetivo de ampliar a disponibilidade de água para mais de 42 milhões de brasileiros em 12 regiões metropolitanas, a Coalizão promove ações que utilizam a própria natureza para proteger rios e nascentes fundamentais para o abastecimento dos moradores das cidades e do campo. As medidas incluem a restauração de florestas e solos em áreas de mananciais, o apoio a políticas públicas para a recuperação florestal e o engajamento do produtor rural na conservação das fontes de água.
