“ABES defende a eficiência no saneamento”, afirma presidente sobre discussão acerca dos novos modelos de concessões

Empresas devem ser eficientes na prestação de serviços aos clientes, na busca pela universalização e nas boas práticas de operação

A decisão do Governo Federal de incentivar os estados a promoverem parcerias com o setor privado para ampliar as redes de tratamento e coleta de esgoto, que trouxe a questão público/privado à tona nos últimos dias, deve centrar-se em um ponto prioritário para o setor: a eficiência.

É o que afirma o presidente nacional da ABES, Roberval Tavares de Souza. “Para a ABES, a discussão central é de que o setor deve concentrar esforços em praticar uma boa prestação de serviços, trabalhar visando à universalização do saneamento no país e manter uma boa gestão na operação. “

Na semana passada, o secretário executivo do Programa de Parcerias de Investimentos (PPI) da Presidência, Moreira Franco, afirmou que o setor de saneamento básico faz parte do programa de concessões e que o BNDES promoverá uma série de encontros com os governos estaduais para definir quais serão as melhores alternativas para a concessão do serviço ao setor privado (saiba mais aqui).

“Se a discussão sobre modelos de concessões não levar em conta estes fatores, poderemos ter mais investimentos, mas não necessariamente avançaremos para universalizar os serviços no Brasil”, frisa o presidente da ABES.

Com 50 anos de atuação pelo saneamento e meio ambiente no Brasil, a Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES reúne em seu corpo associativo cerca de 10.000 profissionais do setor. A ABES tem como missão ser propulsora de atividades técnico-científicas, político-institucionais e de gestão que contribuam para o desenvolvimento do saneamento ambiental, visando à melhoria da saúde, do meio ambiente e da qualidade de vida das pessoas.
