Entre os dias 16 e 19 de junho, a cidade de Natal, no Rio Grande do Norte, irá receber a 30º edição do Congresso Brasileiro de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental. Promovido pela Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, o maior, mais qualificado e expressivo evento do setor no Brasil será realizado no Centro de Convenções de Natal/RN. As inscrições estão com desconto até o dia 1º de abril e poderão ser feitas aqui.
“O Rio Grande do Norte possui grande potencial econômico vinculado às riquezas naturais, em que se destacam as matrizes energéticas e a fruticultura, além do turismo. Não pode ter um olhar dissociado do desenvolvimento sustentável”. A afirmação da presidente da ABES-RN, Geny Formiga.
Na entrevista, a seguir, ela comenta sobre a importância da realização, que nesta edição traz como tema central “Saneamento Ambiental: como tratar igual os desiguais”.
Destaca também, entre outros pontos, a presença dos jovens profissionais do saneamento no evento, desafios na organização e contribuições do Congresso para o setor.

ABES – Poderia comentar sobre a importância da realização do Congresso para o Rio Grande do Norte e a Região Nordeste?
Geny Formiga – A Região Nordeste apresenta como vocação marcante o acolhimento dos que a visitam, bem como das belezas naturais e turísticas. Na região semiárida a implementação das ações de saneamento básico apresenta-se de forma desafiadora, quer pela escassez de água decorrente do fenômeno da seca, quer pelo potencial reaproveitamento dos esgotos na atividade produtiva. A preservação do patrimônio ambiental apresenta-se como ferramenta estratégica e fundamental para favorecer melhores condições às áreas geradoras de água da região, de forma que discussões como remuneração por serviços ambientais e compra do direito de desenvolvimento, merecem um novo olhar para as novas administrações estaduais.
O Rio Grande do Norte é um estado que possui grande potencial econômico vinculado às riquezas naturais, em que se destacam as matrizes energéticas e a fruticultura, além do turismo. Não pode ter um olhar dissociado do desenvolvimento sustentável. Provavelmente, em lugar nenhum do Brasil esta relação ocorra de forma tão frágil, onde o mar, dunas, turismo, vento, energia e água construam um ambiente belo, apaixonante e promissor. Na sua capital, Natal, está sendo realizada a maior obra de esgotamento sanitário de sua história com a possibilidade de torná-la 100% saneada.
ABES – Como estão os preparativos para o evento? E o que poderia destacar em relação ao espaço onde será realizado?
Geny Formiga – Os preparativos estão dentro do cronograma elaborado entre a ABES [Diretoria] Nacional e a Seção Rio Grande do Norte. Todos da organização estão empenhados em realizar um evento que seja marcante tanto do ponto de vista técnico como cultural.
O espaço onde será realizado o Congresso é o Centro de Convenções, local que tem testemunhado os maiores eventos realizados no estado. Está instalado em uma área de beleza deslumbrante, debruçado para via costeira e observando o Morro do Careca e a bela Praia de Ponta Negra, cartões postais da cidade. Com mais de 2.000 leitos de hotelaria a menos de 5 minutos de distância.
ABES- O CBESA é o maior e mais qualificado evento do setor. Quais foram (ou estão sendo) os maiores desafios para organizar um evento desta grandeza?
Geny Formiga – Os maiores desafios para organizar o evento estão centrados em agregar as realidades teóricas e práticas que vêm sendo desenvolvidas no Brasil, além de abrir espaço para discussões de temas atuais referentes a políticas públicas para o setor, avaliar o que vem sendo produzido e propor tendências para o futuro.
Outra dificuldade advém em propiciar motivação aos setores público e privado em patrocinar e participar do evento, frente à crise econômica e o desgaste de algumas instituições nos últimos anos. Por outro lado, o início de um novo governo agrega expectativa de todos em relação aos novos rumos do setor.
ABES – O que a organização está preparando para a programação sociocultural do Congresso?
Geny Formiga – Durante a realização do Congresso estaremos em uma época bastante festiva para os nordestinos, ou seja, as festas juninas. Não devemos adiantar muita coisa agora para não tirar a surpresa!!!
Com certeza, faremos uma excelente programação (bem bairrista, por sinal!!!). Ademais, manteremos a tradição das festas realizadas em todos os nossos Congressos.
ABES – Como o Congresso da ABES, em sua 30ª edição, poderá contribuir para propostas que alavanquem o saneamento?
Geny Formiga – A maior contribuição para o evento, além de agregar as realidades teóricas e práticas que vem sendo desenvolvidas no Brasil e no mundo, a diversas discussões do saneamento devem ser tratadas de maneira participativa e de caráter nacional. Dessa forma, um dos grandes objetivos do Congresso está centrado em reunir todos os partícipes envolvidos nas causas para traçar metas futuras, sem esquecer as experiências do passado. Também será um momento para o setor refletir sobre a revisão do marco legal do saneamento, logo após o desfecho do trâmite no Congresso Nacional da MP 868/2018.
ABES- Quais serão as inovações da edição 2019?
Geny Formiga – Iremos incluir espaços para apresentação de inovações desenvolvidas nas empresas de saneamento, bem como incluir no circuito de discussões as energias limpas.
ABES – Em sua visão, qual é o papel dos jovens profissionais no evento?
Geny Formiga – Não se trata de clichê, mas a presença dos jovens profissionais do saneamento (JPS) é fundamental para o futuro do saneamento a nível local e nacional. Serão eles que carregarão o bastão em defesa do saneamento básico e do meio ambiente com propriedade e conhecimento.
