Rio Water Week: “a ABES reforça a imagem do Brasil como país comprometido em alcançar os ODS”, diz Ricardo Röver Machado, um dos coordenadores da programação

A Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES realizará pela primeira vez no Brasil, entre os dias 26 e 28 de novembro, o mais importante evento sobre água no mundo: a RIO WATER WEEK – Semana da Água do Rio. O encontro ocorrerá no Riocentro, no Rio de Janeiro.

Na entrevista, a seguir, o engenheiro Ricardo Röver Machado, um dos coordenadores da programação, que contempla 9 temas centrais, desenvolvidos em 20 tópicos e 35 sessões, sob a coordenação de especialistas nacionais e internacionais, fala sobre o encontro. Ele ressalta, entre outros pontos, que esta realização da ABES “fortalece não apenas a sua imagem enquanto organização profissional especializada, como também reforça a imagem do Brasil como país comprometido em alcançar os Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável preconizados pela ONU”. Ricardo Röver é também coordenador da Câmara Temática de Gestão de Perdas e Eficiência Energética da ABES.

O evento, que já ocorre em outros países, como Suécia e Cingapura, reunirá profissionais e empresas do Brasil e outros países e envolverá também a comunidade acadêmica, especialistas e organizações internacionais para discutir a água em sua concepção mais ampla, abordando desafios, políticas públicas e soluções e tecnologias existentes no Brasil e em todo o mundo, com foco no ODS 6 –  ÁGUA E ESGOTO PARA TODOS ATÉ 2030.

ABES Notícias – Qual é a sua visão sobre a realização no Rio de Janeiro de um evento internacional consagrado em outras cidades do mundo? Qual a importância desta realização para o Brasil?

Ricardo Röver Machado – O Brasil já tem reconhecida importância no contexto da américa latina e firma-se cada vez mais como polo técnico e de formação de profissionais capazes de enfrentar problemas ambientais, hídricos e de saúde pública. A RWW coloca o Brasil como precursor na América em evento técnico internacional e que aconteceram apenas na Ásia (Cingapura) e na Europa (Suécia).

A sua realização no Rio de Janeiro também é importante não apenas pelos aspectos turísticos e de infraestrutura ao evento, como também para trazermos a esta cidade esta pauta muito positiva. Novamente o Rio de Janeiro é sede de um evento relacionado ao desenvolvimento sustentável que se conjuga à Conferência Rio+20, considerado o maior evento das Nações Unidas, realizado em 2012 nesta cidade.

ABES Notícias – Discutir a água de um ponto de vista mais amplo será o grande desafio do evento. Como você vê a diversidade de participantes (empresas, ONGs, governos e outros organismos) e como esta diversidade pode contribuir para a discussão?

Ricardo Röver Machado – A ABES está sendo muito feliz na organização do evento, principalmente na escolha dos temas que abordam desde aspectos relacionados a recursos financeiros, passando por regulação, comunicação, governança, gestão de perdas, eficiência energética, clima e recursos hídricos. A coordenação de cada tema está muito bem estabelecida combinando experiências de especialistas que atuam no Brasil com renomadas organizações internacionais.

Não temos dúvidas que ao combinarmos tantos conhecimentos e experiências dos palestrantes com a participação de uma muito seleta plateia, teremos riquíssimos debates e um fortalecimento profissional muito significativo a todos.

ABES Notícias –  Você integra a coordenação do Grupo do Tema 3 (Gerenciamento Eficiente), que abordará os temas: controle de perdas de água, eficiência energética e gestão do desempenho dos sistemas de abastecimento. Qual é a situação do Brasil em relação a estas questões – quais são os desafios, perspectivas? 

Ricardo Röver Machado – O Brasil vive um momento de revolução nestes temas estratégicos, alavancado não apenas pelas graves crises hídricas que enfrentamos recentemente nas regiões sudeste e nordeste, como também pela crise financeira que restringe os recursos disponíveis.

O maior desafio consiste em combinar a eficiência operacional com a eficiência comercial. Desta forma poderemos reduzir custos e postergar investimentos em ampliações dos sistemas, garantindo a qualidade, quantidade e continuidade do abastecimento, a preços justos.

As perspectivas são muito boas, visto que as empresas de saneamento (não apenas do Brasil) estão investindo cada vez mais em tecnologias para automação, controle operacional, redução de pressões e capacitação dos seus profissionais, e aprimorando as suas ferramentas de gestão para melhorar os seus indicadores e prestarem melhores serviços à sociedade.

Não temos dúvida que a RWW trará grande contribuição profissional aos participantes em todos estes aspectos.

ABES Notícias – Ainda neste sentido, como o Brasil pode contribuir para esta discussão mundial e o que outros países poderão agregar ao debate e à experiência brasileira?

Ricardo Röver Machado – A riqueza da RWW é essa reunião de experiências. Teremos a oportunidade, por exemplo, de estar em um ambiente com empresas que enfrentaram a grave estiagem de São Paulo e profissionais que enfrentam problemas na África, e organizações que utilizam alta tecnologia para a gestão dos seus sistemas.

Cada país tem as suas peculiaridades e desenvolveram potencialidades profissionais para a solução de problemas e para o planejamento das suas ações futuras. A integração da inteligência desenvolvida, unindo conhecimentos e experiências de várias partes do mundo, será muito valiosa não apenas às empresas e profissionais participantes, mas também à sociedade, aos recursos hídricos e ao meio ambiente.

São renomados palestrantes, autores de livros e artigos, que estarão transmitindo conhecimentos e experiências e proporcionando importantes debates com os profissionais presentes na plateia.

Ricardo Röver Machado – A Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental construiu ao longo dos seus mais de 50 anos de existência uma sólida imagem junto a entidades profissionais e governamentais, e, principalmente, junto à sociedade brasileira através dos seus eventos, cursos e representações.

Sendo hoje a mais atuante entidade brasileira do setor de saneamento ambiental, certamente dará um passo histórico para firmar-se também como referência no cenário internacional.

Ao trazer o evento para o Brasil, a ABES fortalece não apenas a sua imagem enquanto organização profissional especializada, como também reforça a imagem do Brasil como país comprometido em alcançar os Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável preconizados pela ONU.

ABES Notícias –  Como você vê as discussões da primeira RWW em relação a ter impacto não apenas técnico e institucional, mas também político, em nosso país e outros?

Ricardo Röver Machado – A RWW será um evento histórico, e, mais do que isso, exemplar. As discussões e as repercussões na sociedade já estão trazendo à pauta as preocupações e mobilizações da comunidade mundial em torno do Objetivo 6 do Desenvolvimento Sustentável que é “Assegurar a disponibilidade e gestão sustentável da água e saneamento para todas e todos”.

Os diversos aspectos que envolvem o tema e que serão aprofundadas na RWW certamente fomentarão mudanças em pontos de vista e concepções, alavancando as questões políticas as quais, muitas vezes, entravam o desenvolvimento do setor. Não é possível alcançarmos as metas estabelecidas pela ONU sem o compartilhamento das responsabilidades entre a sociedade, o meio técnico e o meio político, criando-se meios de financiamento e realização das ações.

O exemplo que está sendo dado pela ABES ao escrever esta página histórica do saneamento mundial, certamente renderá frutos não apenas no Brasil, como em várias partes do nosso planeta.
