No mês do Dia Mundial do Meio Ambiente (celebrado em 5 de junho), o coordenador do Seminário Internacional “Controle de perdas e o enfrentamento da escassez hídrica”, Roberval Tavares de Souza, membro da Diretoria Nacional da Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental  – ABES, abordará a organização do evento, que será o maior já realizado sobre o tema na América Latina, com participação de vários especialistas internacionais. Serão dois dias de palestras, debates e apresentações de estudos de caso. Entre as presenças internacionais confirmadas estão Ronnie Mckenzie (África do Sul), Roland Liemberger (Áustria), Alan Wyatt (Estados Unidos), Sue Mosburg (Estados Unidos), Enrique Castelvi(Espanha), Julian Thornton (Inglaterra) e Enric Castelvi (Espanha).

Organizado pela Câmara Temática de Gestão de Perdas da ABES, oseminário é uma das etapas preparatórias para o 29º Congresso Brasileiro de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental, que será realizado em São Paulo em 2017 e que integra a construção do Fórum Mundial da Água, a ser realizado em Brasília em 2018.
