Nesta segunda, dia 28 de janeiro, a diretora nacional da Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, Maria Lúcia Coelho Silva – também articuladora das Câmaras Temáticas -, ao lado do diretor da ABES Seção Rio Grande do Sul (ABES-RS), Mário Saffer, representaram a entidade na reunião do Núcleo de Políticas de Mudanças do Clima do Município de Canoas (NPMC), que aconteceu no auditório Sady Schivitz e reuniu representantes de todas as secretarias municipais e de entidades do município.
Liderada pelo secretário do Meio Ambiente (SMMA), Paulo Paim, e pela secretária executiva do NPMC, Vera Bini, a reunião teve a finalidade de discutir os projetos de sustentabilidade para Canoas. Tais projetos devem ser apresentados por cada secretaria municipal ao Núcleo, que após analise vai encaminhar para submissão à Rede Global ICLEI. Canoas e Porto Alegre são as duas únicas cidades gaúchas que fazem parte de uma Rede de Municípios Sustentáveis, fundada pelo Conselho Internacional para Iniciativas Ambientais Locais (ICLEI).
Além do gabinete da vice-prefeita, de diversas Secretarias Municipais, compõem também o Núcleo o Conselho Municipal do Meio Ambiente (CMMA), a Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – Seção do Rio Grande do Sul (ABES/RS) e a Câmara da Indústria, Comércio e Serviços de Canoas (CICS).
