ONU abre inscrições para 4ª edição do Prêmio Jovens Campeões da Terra

O Programa da ONU (Organização Nações Unidas) para o Meio Ambiente (PNUMA) abriu inscrições para o prêmio global “Jovens Campeões da Terra 2020”. Voltada a Jovens empreendedores ambientais de todo o mundo com idades entre 18 e 30 anos, a competição receberá ideias para solucionar os principais desafios ambientais do planeta até o dia 10 de abril. Serão escolhidos sete vencedores, de sete regiões do mundo, que receberão financiamento para o investimento inicial nos seus projetos. Os ganhadores também terão orientações, oportunidades de compartilhar suas inovações e de participar de reuniões de alto nível nas Nações Unidas.

Na edição de 2019, uma biotecnóloga brasileira, Anna Luisa Beserra, foi vencedora pela América Latina e Caribe. O projeto dela viabiliza acesso à água potável e segura por meio de filtro que purifica água da chuva coletada em cisternas de zonas rurais.

Entre os projetos vencedores de outras regiões em 2019 estiveram o da engenheira de software do Nepal que visa tornar o transporte público elétrico uma alternativa de qualidade aos veículos particulares e um engenheiro industrial libanês que trabalha com estudantes e refugiados para reutilizar e reciclar roupas.
