A ABES – Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental divulga, nesta terça-feira, 30 de novembro, a carta enviada ao Presidente da República, Jair Bolsonaro, e outras autoridades e órgãos governamentais (Ministro do Desenvolvimento Regional- MDR, Rogério Simonetti Marinho; Presidente da Comissão de Meio Ambiente no Senado, Senador Jaques Wagner; Presidente do Senado Federal, Senador Rodrigo Otavio Soares Pacheco; Ministro Casa Civil, Ciro Nogueira; Ministra-Chefe de Estado da Secretaria de Governo da Presidência da República, Flávia Carolina Péres) sobre a renovação da Diretoria da Agência Nacional de Águas e Saneamento Básico – ANA.

A Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental (ABES), entidade com mais de meio século de atuação pelo saneamento, meio ambiente e recursos hídricos no Brasil, reúne em seu corpo associativo cerca de 10.000 profissionais desses setores, atuando em universidades, órgãos de governo, agências reguladoras e empresas públicas e privadas. A ABES tem como missão ser propulsora de atividades técnico-científicas, político-institucionais e de gestão que contribuam para o desenvolvimento do saneamento ambiental, visando a melhoria da saúde, do meio ambiente e da qualidade de vida das pessoas.
Cumprimentando V. S.ª, vimos manifestar a opinião da ABES a respeito da próxima renovação da diretoria da ANA – Agência Nacional de Águas e Saneamento Básico. É de conhecimento público que já há uma vacância, e que que três novas vagas surgirão em 17 de janeiro próximo, incluindo-se entre essas a de Diretor Presidente.
A ANA é reconhecida como um órgão de excelência do Estado Brasileiro, tendo em seus vinte anos de existência desenvolvido com grande competência a implementação do Sistema Nacional de Gerenciamento de Recursos Hídricos (SINGERH). Além dessa tarefa, a ANA agora passa a desempenhar papel estratégico no desenvolvimento da agenda regulatória do saneamento básico em nosso país.
Em momento tão crucial para a gestão dos recursos hídricos e para o esforço pela universalização do atendimento com serviços de saneamento, entendemos que a substituição deva ser feita por profissionais que mantenham o perfil de competência técnica e conhecimento do setor que tem caracterizado as gestões da direção da Agência.
Por essas razões, vimos por meio deste expediente expressar o entendimento da ABES de que as indicações para o preenchimento das vagas contemplem pessoas que tenham formação técnica e trajetória profissional nas áreas de gestão de recursos hídricos e de saneamento ambiental, de modo a assegurar as condições para a continuidade da excelência da Agência Nacional de Águas e Saneamento Básico no desempenho de suas missões institucionais.
