No dia 16 de agosto, a Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental ABES Seção Distrito Federal (ABES– DF), presidida pelo engenheiro João Marcos Paes de Almeida, entregou aos candidatos nas eleições deste ano suas propostas para o saneamento básico, o meio ambiente e os recursos hídricos do Distrito Federal para 2019 – 2022. As propostas são fruto de quatro oficinas realizadas com participação de associados e representantes da sociedade civil. O evento aconteceu na Câmara Distrital, em Brasília/DF.
Na ocasião, João Marcos falou sobre o assunto em entrevista à Rádio CBN de Brasília.
A ABES DF, mobilizando o conhecimento de seus associados para equacionar soluções mais sustentáveis, participa e contribui ativamente com diversos Conselhos no DF como o de Recursos Hídricos (CRH/DF), o Conselho de Meio Ambiente (CONAM/DF), o Conselho Distrital de Saneamento Básico (CONSAB), o Conselho de Limpeza Urbana (COMLURB/DF), o Comitê Gestor dos Resíduos da Construção Civil e Volumosos (CORC/DF) e o Conselho Consultivo de Preservação e Planejamento Territorial e Metropolitano (CCPPTM/DF).
As propostas são dirigidas a todos os candidatos às eleições do DF deste ano. São 32 propostas construídas em oficinas abertas aos profissionais do saneamento e demais interessados, formuladas no intuito de contribuir para a melhoria da qualidade de vida, da saúde e do meio ambiente do Distrito Federal. Elas abordam questões relevantes relativas aos serviços públicos de abastecimento de água (prevenção de novos racionamentos), esgotamento sanitário (controle da poluição das nossas águas superficiais), drenagem urbana (redução dos riscos de alagamentos e do assoreamento do lago Paranoá), limpeza urbana e manejo de resíduos sólidos (recuperação da área do lixão da Estrutural e coleta seletiva), e suas interfaces com o meio ambiente e os recursos hídricos do DF.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
