Durante os três dias de imersão da IWA em São Paulo, os especialistas internacionais e as autoridades brasileiras frisaram a importância da ABES no saneamento ambiental no país.
A Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES recebeu em São Paulo, entre os dias 25 e 27 de julho, uma comitiva de alto nível da IWA – International Water Association, formada por Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy, diretor executivo, Kizito Masinde, diretor de Eventos e Prêmios Globais, e Daniela Bemfica, diretora de Programas Estratégicos e Engajamento.
Os especialistas participaram de diversos encontros em São Paulo, juntamente com membros da ABES: o presidente nacional, Alceu Guérios Bittencourt, o secretário geral da Diretoria Nacional, Marcel Sanches, a coordenadora de Assuntos Internacionais, Marisa Guimarães, o presidente da ABES-SP, Luiz Pladevall, e a diretora executiva da ABES, Alessandra Péres.
O grupo foi recebido pelo prefeito de São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, juntamente com o presidente do Conselho do CDHU, Lair Krahenbuhl, a secretária municipal de Relações Internacionais, Marta Suplicy, o secretário municipal de Turismo, Rodolfo Marinho, o secretário executivo de Planejamento e Entregas Prioritárias (SEPEP), Fernando Chucre, o chefe de gabinete da Secretaria Municipal de Relações Internacionais, Rodrigo Massi, e o diretor de Clientes e Eventos da SPTuris, Felipe Pita.
Entre os diversos temas discutidos, Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy abordou as cidades-esponja, a construção e o financiamento para implantação e exemplos de países que adotaram esta solução, como a China. O prefeito demonstrou interesse em aproximar a cidade de São Paulo da IWA, saudou as associações pelo trabalho que desenvolvem (ABES, no Brasil, e IWA, mundialmente) e colocou a capital paulista à disposição para futuras iniciativas das associações.
Na Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Infraestrutura e Logística do Estado de São Paulo, os especialistas foram recebidos pela secretária Natália Resende, acompanhada da subsecretária de Recursos Hídricos e Saneamento do Estado de São Paulo, Samanta Souza, e da presidente do Conselho de Administração da Sabesp, Karla Bertocco.
Natália Resende ressaltou a importância da ABES para o saneamento e sua atuação em todo o país e a IWA, pela atuação mundial, e demonstrou interesse em cooperar com futuras realizações das duas entidades. Também discorreu sobre as políticas ambientais do estado, como o programa UniversalizaSP, lançado este mês, e o trabalho com foco em inovação, uma das diretrizes da Secretaria.
Na sede da ABES-SP, os executivos da IWA encontraram-se com o secretário nacional de Saneamento Ambiental do Ministério das Cidades, Leonardo Picciani, com Ian Marins Seixas, assessor internacional da pasta, e Filipe de Mello Sampaio Cunha, diretor da ANA – Agência Nacional de Águas e Saneamento Básico, que também afirmaram a disposição do Brasil em promover eventos e ampliar o compartilhamento de conhecimento com a IWA.
O diretor executivo da IWA, Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy, ressaltou que o Brasil, assim como outras economias emergentes, é visto pelo mundo como forte liderança nas questões ambientais e nas iniciativas para diminuir os impactos das mudanças climáticas. “Como associação internacional, absorvemos conhecimento de todos os lugares. E acredito que temos muito a aprender com a América do Sul, com as inovações, ideias e políticas que acontecem aqui, para podermos compartilhar com nossos membros em outras partes do mundo”.
