ABES-Rio e Instituto Pro Bono Brasil: parceria em prol do monitoramento ambiental

As entidades pretedem unir esforços para o desenvolvimento, implantação e operação de projetos relacionados ao setor de saneamento e à engenharia sanitária.

A ABES Seção Rio de Janeiro, representada por seu presidente da ABES-Rio, Miguel Fernández y Fernández, firmou uma importante parceria com o Instituto Pro Bono Brasil, na última terça-feira, 14 de março. O termo de cooperação foi assinado pelo diretor presidente Daniel Gil e prevê apoio institucional entre as iniciativas das entidades.

As lideranças pretendem unir esforços para o desenvolvimento, implantação e operação de projetos relacionados ao setor de saneamento e à engenharia sanitária, bem como promover iniciativas ambientais e sociais de alto impacto.

As ações previstas objetivam sensibilizar os gestores públicos e privados, buscar a efetivação dos direitos ao acesso ao saneamento básico e a mobilização pelo desenvolvimento econômico pautado pelo ambiente ecologicamente equilibrado.

A falta de coleta e tratamento de esgoto é a principal causa da mortalidade de crianças de zero a cinco anos de idade por diarréia e doenças parasitárias, enfermidades que proliferam em áreas sem saneamento básico.

Estima-se que 65% das internações em hospitais de crianças com menos de 10 anos sejam provocadas pela precariedade da rede de esgoto e água limpa. São mais de 2.500 crianças menores de cinco anos, vítimas das doenças que se proliferam em áreas sem saneamento básico.
