ABES-RS promove lançamento da Semana da Água 2017

De 30 de setembro a 7 de outubro, o Rio Grande do Sul realizará a 24ª edição da Semana Interamericana da Água e a 17ª edição da Semana Estadual da Água, promoção da ABES-RS – seção gaúcha da Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – com apoio e parceria de instituições públicas e privadas. O lançamento da campanha ocorrerá nesta quinta-feira, 14 de setembro, às 10h30, na sede do Sindicato dos Engenheiros do Rio Grande do Sul (Senge-RS), em Porto Alegre.

A celebração da XXIV Semana Interamericana e XVII Semana Estadual da Água vem fortalecer e reafirmar, uma vez mais, um dos seus principais objetivos, que é a consciência de coletividade, a compreensão de que a responsabilidade pela solução é de todos. Por isso, a temática desta edição é “Água Segura = Vida Saudável – Reservatórios limpos, água protegida”.

Esta temática contemplará ações de conscientização sobre a importância da Segurança da Água, especialmente nos cuidados de armazenamento que possam conservar e garantir sua potabilidade para o consumo humano, promovendo uma vida com mais saúde. A Semana da Água é fundamentada em ações no âmbito do saneamento (serviços e companhias de saneamento), recursos hídricos (instituições ligadas a esse
setor, como departamentos e comitês de bacias), educação (instituições educacionais municipais e estaduais) e saúde pública (secretarias municipais, estaduais, Vigilância Sanitária).

A Semana da Água é uma das maiores ações de mobilização da sociedade em defesa da água no Brasil e atinge a maioria dos municípios do Rio Grande do Sul, sendo referência para o setor em nível internacional. Ela visa mobilizar e sensibilizar a sociedade, através da informação e do esclarecimento dessas questões em seus diferentes níveis, e promover ações que beneficiam a qualidade de vida das populações ao mesmo tempo em que melhora a situação ambiental. É um período de encontro, reflexão e avaliação, destinado a lembrar  a importância da água para o desenvolvimento econômico e social, e a incentivar a cooperação das pessoas no sentido de tornar sustentável o planeta Terra.

Com esta iniciativa a Abes-RS, em parceria com diversos segmentos da esfera municipal, estadual e federal, quer demonstrar que a Semana da Água é, ao mesmo tempo, uma mobilização, uma tomada de consciência da sociedade gaúcha e um tema relevante destinado para esta e para as futuras gerações, oportunizando mudanças de atitudes em todos os segmentos da sociedade, já que proteger a água é obrigação de cada indivíduo.

Durante sete dias, acontecerão em todo o Estado cerca de 1800 atividades entre elas: técnicas, culturais, artísticas e sociais promovidas por instituições e empresas ligadas ao setor de saneamento, escolas, clubes de serviços, organizações não governamentais, comitês de bacia e outras entidades.
