O objetivo da parceria é realizar ações para melhorar a situação do gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos no Estado.

No dia 3 de junho, a ABES – Associação Brasileira de Enhenharia Sanitária e Ambiental e a Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente, Saneamento e Recursos Hídricos – Semarh assinaram um termo de cooperação no âmbito da Campanha nacional “Brasil, te quero livre de lixão”. O objetivo da parceria é realizar ações para melhorar a situação do gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos no Rio Grande do Norte. 

Representando a Associação, o acordo foi assinado por Wagna Dantas, presidente da ABES-RN, que salientou a importância da parceria com o Governo do RN, que é o primeiro Estado a assinar o termo de cooperação da campanha nacional.

Pela Semarh, o termo doi assinado pelo secretário João Maria Cavalcanti. Ele destacou a atuação do Governo do Estado, por meio da Secretaria, na gestão dos resíduos sólidos e a parceria com a ABES. “Temos todo interesse em discutir esse tema, que é uma preocupação mundial, para desenvolver ações junto aos catadores de materiais recicláveis, verdadeiros agentes ambientais que trabalham com reciclagem em nosso Estado”.

Rachel Germano, promotora de Justiça (MPRN), falou dos aterros sanitários e da destinação final dos resíduos sólidos no cenário nordestino. Maria Geny Formiga de Farias (CAERN) salientou a importância de dialogar sobre o tema e pensarmos juntos alternativas para os resíduos sólidos no RN.
