Evento foi promovido pela Câmara Técnica de Resíduos Sólidos da ABES-PA. Os palestrantes foram o Prof. Nélio Teixeira Machado, da FAESA/UFPA, e Douglas Alberto Rocha de Castro, coord. do Curso de Engenharia Química do CEULM/ULBRA. Assista no YouTube.
 
A Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental- Seção Pará (ABES-PA), por meio da sua Câmara Técnica de Resíduos Sólidos, promoveu na tarde desta quarta-feira, 06 de julho, um debate com o tema “Tratamento Térmico de Frações de Lixo Urbano”. O webinar faz parte da campanha nacional da ABES “Brasil, te quero livre de lixão” e foi transmitido pelo canal da entidade no YouTube.
 
Realizado no ABES Conecta, o evento online foi apresentado por Roseane Garcia de Souza, diretora da ABES-SP e coordenadora das Câmaras Temática (nacional) e Técnica (estadual/SP) de Resíduos Sólidos da ABES. 
 
A moderação ficou por conta de Antônio de Noronha Tavares, professor da Faculdade de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental (FAESA/UFPA) e coordenador da CTRS da ABES-PA.

Os convidados para aprofundar o assunto foram Nélio Teixeira Machado, professor da Faculdade de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental (FAESA/UFPA), e Douglas Alberto Rocha de Castro, coordenador do Curso de Engenharia Química do Centro Universitário Luterano de Manaus (CEULM/ULBRA). 

Os palestrantes discorreram sobre o tratamento térmico de frações de resíduos urbanos via pirólise, incluindo biomassa, matéria orgânica e plásticos. Também mostraram os produtos de reação (bio-óleo, bio-sólido e gases), aplicações e o potencial desta tecnologia na disposição de RSU.
 
O professor Nélio Teixeira abordou o atual cenário dos resíduos sólidos. Entre outros tópicos, falou sobre legislação, problemáticas e soluções para a questão. Para ele, houve um aumento da geração dos resíduos sólidos em todas as regiões do país e o Novo Marco Legal condiciona o adiamento do fim dos lixões. O especialista trouxe dados da Abrelpe (Associação Brasileira de Empresas de Limpeza Pública e Resíduos Especiais) que mostram que a geração de resíduos chega a ser 6 milhões de toneladas/ano no Brasil sendo 49,7% na região Sudeste, 7,4% na região Norte, 7,5% no Centro-Oeste, 24,7% no Nordeste, 10,8% na região Sul. 

 

O professor apresentou tecnologias aplicadas e fontes alternativas que visam soluções para transformação de resíduos em energia e biocombustível, e minimizar ou solucionar os impactos ambientais gerados.
 
Por sua vez, Douglas Alberto Rocha de Castro falou sobre o Plano Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos (PNRS), a gestão e o cenário da destinação adequada e inadequada dos resíduos sólidos no Brasil e no mundo, e sobre a tecnologia aplicada.
 
Ao final, os palestrantes responderam perguntas e esclareceram as dúvidas do público, que foi bastante participativo.
