Caixa: regulação do setor de saneamento será coordenada pelo governo federal

O governo levará as questões regulatórias do setor de saneamento para a esfera federal a fim de melhorar a eficiência da atratividade das concessões para o investimento do setor privado, disse Rogério de Paula Tavares, diretor de saneamento da Caixa Econômica Federal, em evento de infraestrutura realizado nesta sexta-feira, 25, em São Paulo.

“Possivelmente, não é claro ainda, deve ficar dentro da Agência Nacional de Águas”, afirmou durante apresentação. Ele explicou que a proposta é ser uma “espécie de instância arbitral” para coordenação das questões regulatórias, que atualmente acontecem a nível municipal e estadual. A Caixa é o maior financiador do setor de saneamento, com R$ 32 bilhões em sua carteira.

“Ao criar algo na esfera federal, busca-se criar padrões para melhorar a segurança jurídica”, afirmou. Tavares lembrou que, embora a titularidade da concessão seja municipal, são as companhias estaduais que prestam os serviços para 70% dos municípios.
