Com palestras de jovens especialistas e público participativo, JPS-SP realiza seminário sobre clima e poluição do ar

O programa Jovens Profissionais do Saneamento da ABES – Seção São Paulo (JPS/ABES-SP), coordenada pelo geógrafo Thomas Ficarelli, promoveu nesta terça-feira, 25 de outubro, seu 1º Seminário, com o tema ‘Clima e Controle de Poluentes Atmosféricos’. Com uma plateia bastante participativa, o evento contou com três palestras apresentadas pelos especialistas jovens do âmbito acadêmico e profissional: Victor Hugo Sanches Ribeiro, da Faculdade Brás Cubas; Sofia Lizarralde Oliver, da Faculdade de Saúde Pública da Universidade de São Paulo – USP, e Lucas Marçola, da Universidade de Campinas – UNICAMP.

Com o objetivo de discutir e compartilhar conhecimento e experiências acerca do tema proposto, os palestrantes abordaram questões diversas, porém interligadas.

O engenheiro ambiental Victor Hugo Sanches Ribeiro abordou o “Controle de Emissões de Veículos Diesel para Melhorar a Qualidade do Ar”, tema de seu Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso – TCC. Ele falou sobre os riscos da poluição atmosférica pelo diesel para a saúde e instrumentos para controle de emissões, como o PROCONVE – Programa de Controle de poluição do Ar por Veículos Automotores, do IBAMA; e o PMMVE –  Programa para Melhoria da Manutenção de Veículos Diesel – da Cetesb, que visa a conscientização dos donos de frotas e motoristas.

abessjpsLucas Marçola, engenheiro químico e mestrando na área, abordou a questão dos “Compostos Orgânicos Voláteis(COVs) e Impactos na Qualidade do Ar”, tema de seu mestrado. Neste contexto, apresentou uma ferramenta específica para tratar a poluição emitida pelos veículos por meio da conversão catalítica. O equipamento tecnológico, segundo ele, “não é novo, já existe nos Estados Unidos e em outros países do mundo, mas no Brasil ainda é pouco estudado”.

Já a geógrafa Sofia Lizarralde Oliver discorreu acerca das “Perspectivas Futuras das Mudanças Climáticas” no cenário mundial. Foram abordados, entre outros tópicos, o aquecimento global, o efeito estufa e suas consequências, como a diminuição das calotas polares e aumento da temperatura no planeta. “Isso possibilita a maior frequência de eventos extremos e a ameaça à segurança hídrica e alimentar, além de favorizar a proliferação de mosquitos e doenças de veiculação hídrica, dentre outros problemas”, explicou.

Para Lucas Marçola, o seminário foi muito importante, considerando que a maioria das ações da ABES são voltadas ao contexto da água, principalmente nos últimos anos, devido à escassez hídrica que atingiu algumas regiões do Brasil, em especial a região metropolitana de São Paulo. “Acaba-se falando mais nas questões da água e menos nas atmosféricas”, destacou. Conhece-se muito a incineração térmica, mas temos poucos estudos sobre a conversão catalítica para tratar os compostos orgânicos voláteis. Foi uma ótima oportunidade de apresentar esse material”, disse. “O debate foi muito interessante porque as outras apresentações convergiram com a minha”. Temos que continuar com esse tipo de evento. O JPS é um grupo bastante rico, extremamente multidisciplinar e acho que podemos agregar um ao outro, mostrar o que estamos estudando, um pouco do nosso conhecimento. Aprendi muito com os outros palestrantes e com a plateia”, complementou o engenheiro.

Sofia Oliver elogiou a iniciativa. “Foi interessante juntar os três temas, a organização acertou bastante”, destacou. “A questão do aquecimento global e as mudanças climáticas estão muito em voga.  E tudo está atrelado – as emissões, as consequências, tudo muito ligado Gostei de ver como o assunto foi conversado e permeado. E tem muito mais coisas que gostaríamos de destrinchar, o tema é extenso. Estou muito feliz de poder vir aqui apresentar, foi uma ótima oportunidade”, afirmou. A participação do púbico chamou atenção da geógrafa. “Pessoas bastante participativas, interessadas com conteúdo para fazer perguntas. Elas sabiam do que estávamos falando e deu para fazer uma boa discussão e trocar ideias”.

“Muito boa e inovadora a ideia do JPS de discutir a importância da poluição atmosférica. É necessário falar disso”, pontuou Victor Hugo Sanches. “Por exemplo, se uma pessoa fica por duas horas na Salim Farah Maluf [uma avenida  da capital paulista], ela vai começar a ter irritação na garganta, por causa do nível de poluição. As emissões têm que ser controladas”, enfatizou o engenheiro ambiental e completou: “Essa troca de conhecimento é ótima. Não só ensinamos, também aprendemos com as perguntas e com os colegas de apresentações”.

jpsPara o coordenador do JPS-SP, Thomas Ficarelli, o eventofoi importante para divulgar o tema das mudanças climáticas e poluentes atmosféricos, assim como para despertar o potencial dos jovens. “Os palestrantes divulgaram os seus estudos e os participantes expressaram as suas ideias no debate”, frisou. “O JPS atingiu o seu objetivo, pois teve uma grande participação do público e irá realizar outros seminários sobre diversos assuntos na área do saneamento ambiental”, disse o geógrafo.

O coordenador nacional do JPS, Álvaro Diogo Teixeira, também prestigiou a atividade, que em sua opinião, foi bem produtiva, porque trouxe pessoas novas para aprender sobre o tema. “Encontrei algumas pessoas de palestras que eu e o Thomas apresentamos em outras faculdades, como a UNISA. Eles viram nossa atividade lá e vieram aqui hoje”, lembrou. “Este é um evento que marca novos integrantes isso é sempre positivo porque é o que buscamos: crescer e expandir as atividades do JPS e esse seminário contribuiu com isso”.

O estudante de Engenharia Civil da Universidade de Santo Amaro, e o Christian Malanda,  33 anos, é um exemplo do que frisou Álvaro. Ele, que é natural da República Democrática do Congo e vive há cinco anos no Brasil, conheceu o JPS na ocasião da atividade realizada na instituição. “Achei a ideia do Jovens Profissionais do Saneamento muito legal”, disse. “E por isso vim aqui hoje. Gostei do evento de hoje, adquirir muito conhecimento sobre a poluição atmosférica.”

“O evento foi superprodutivo. A questão da poluição atmosférica precisa ser debatida e ter mais pesquisa na área”, frisou o engenheiro ambiental e integrante do JPS-SP Marco Aurélio Cauã de Melo, 30 anos. “Os temas foram propícios para o conhecimento de quem está aqui assistindo e palestrantes”, complementou ele, que trabalha na Secretaria do Meio Ambiente de Guarulhos.

A engenheira ambiental Fernanda Vieira de Carvalho, de 24 anos, soube do seminário pelos amigos. “Gostei de presenciar o evento, pelos profissionais que vieram e mesclaram os temas. A palestra foi ampla só gostaria que o tema das mudanças climáticas fosse mais focado. O seminário foi bom e espero que tenhamos outros”.

Julio Barbosa Chiquetto, Doutor em Geografia pela USP com bolsa da FAPESP, que auxiliou a palestra sobre mudanças climáticas de Sofia Oliver, ressaltou que o conhecimento na área de pesquisa ambiental deve ser divulgado e compartilhado o máximo possível. “A questão da interdisciplinaridade tem sido fundamental para a troca de conhecimento de diferentes áreas para se chegar às melhores conclusões. É muito produtivo para os jovens estar em contato com os profissionais da área para fazer ciência e produzir conhecimento”, enfatizou. “A iniciativa do evento é muito importante para o público alvo que poderá fazer a diferença no futuro, pois a área ambiental cresce cada vez mais”.
