Jovens talentos da água: brasileira impressiona jurados na Semana Mundial da Água, em Estocolmo, com projeto finalista do SJWP

A estudante Amanda Ribeiro Machado desenvolveu uma membrana de filtração a partir de resíduos da produção de vinho, capaz de tratar efluentes têxteis. O projeto, intitulado Biogrape, representou o Brasil na Final internacional do Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo e atraiu a atenção pela proposta inovadora.

O sucesso crescente da ciência juvenil brasileira em competições nacionais e internacionais tem atraído cada vez mais o interesse de Empresas, Governos e Investidores. Prova disso, foi o recente recorde alcançado no número de participantes brasileiros na Semana Mundial da Água; Motivados principalmente pelo Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP).

Delegação brasileira participa da final Internacional do Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo 2023. Marcaram presença a Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, Câmara Brasileira de Comércio na Suécia – BRAZILCHAM SWEDEN, Scania Latin America, Banco do Brasil e a Companhia de Saneamento de Maricá.

O Brasil no pódio mundial

O Brasil tem ocupado o pódio mundial ultrapassando grandes potências da educação. As recentes conquistas do estudante Gabriel Fernandes (vencedor em 2021 do SJWP na categoria People’s Choice Award)  e das estudantes Camily e Laura Drebes (vencedoras em 2022  na categoria Diplome of Excelence) ,  mostram a excelência do jeito brasileiro de fazer ciência.

O futuro da Ciência brasileira é Engajadora!

Os novos talentos da ciência nacional têm demonstrado uma característica marcante: a busca pela transformação da realidade social. A Geração Futuro carrega em seu DNA o foco no desenvolvimento de soluções pautadas em três pilares:

  1. Ideias e Soluções coletivas baseadas em natureza para sanar problemas;
  2. Foco centrado na economia circular e no alcance dos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), e
  3. Cooperação como valor fundamental para o avanço em detrimento à competição.

Oportunidade de capital futuro: a ciência juvenil na mira de investidores, empresários e governos.

Com uma imponente delegação, composta por mais de 15 brasileiros, dentre eles parceiros, apoiadores e patrocinadores do SJWP, o Brasil marcou presença na Semana Mundial da Água, demonstrando ao mundo seu apoio e investimento na juventude como catalisadora da mudança.

Acompanhados pela equipe da Câmara Brasileira de Comércio na Suécia (Brazilcham Sweden), a delegação brasileira participou de uma extensa agenda de eventos, visitas e diálogos Business to Business (B2B). A agenda oficial da delegação teve início na Sede Global da Scania Latin America – uma renomada fabricante sueca de caminhões e ônibus que tem como foco a inovação e sustentabilidade no setor de transporte. E, no Brasil, ao longo dos últimos anos a Scania Latin America, tem sido reconhecida por moldar o futuro da mobilidade sustentável, sendo um exemplo propositivo ao levantar questões e soluções na agenda ESG e fomentar a ciência juvenil brasileira continuamente através das edições do SJWP.

Além dos representantes da Scania Latin America, a comitiva brasileira contou com a participação do Pacto Global das Nações Unidas. Trata-se de uma iniciativa que promove a sustentabilidade nas áreas de direitos humanos, trabalho, meio ambiente e combate à corrupção.

Também participaram da comitiva membros da Companhia de Desenvolvimento dos Vales do São Francisco e Parnaíba (Codevasf), uma empresa pública brasileira que atua no desenvolvimento sustentável de regiões semiáridas por meio de projetos de irrigação e recursos hídricos. Outra participante foi a companhia de saneamento ambiental da cidade de Maricá, no estado do Rio de Janeiro (SANEMAR). Adicionalmente, o Banco do Brasil, uma estatal financeira fundada em 1808, que hoje figura como uma das maiores instituições financeiras do Brasil, também esteve presente na comitiva, sendo representada pela Sra. Marisa Reghini F. Mattos – Vice Presidente de Negócios Digitais e Tecnologia.

Sob coordenação da Brazilcham e acompanhados por representantes da ABES, a comitiva brasileira também visitou o Parlamento Sueco, conhecido como ‘Riksdag’. O edifício é um importante marco arquitetônico e cultural da Suécia, onde são realizadas sessões e debates legislativos. A comitiva foi calorosamente recebida pelo Sr. Yusuf Aydin, membro do Parlamento, que brilhantemente a recebeu e compartilhou informações sobre o funcionamento do parlamento.

Posteriormente, através da mediação da Brazilcham Sweden, a comitiva brasileira acompanhada por representantes da ABES, teve a oportunidade de visitar o suntuoso edifício da Prefeitura local,  onde anualmente ocorre a cerimônia do Prêmio Nobel, e os laureados celebram seus prêmios. A visita foi conduzida pelo Sr. Jonas Nadebo, membro do parlamento municipal, que proporcionou uma experiência igualmente enriquecedora.

 

Finalmente, encerrando a agenda B2B, a comitiva visitou o Instituto Sueco de Pesquisa Ambiental (Swedish Environmental Research Institute – IVL). O IVL é uma organização pública líder em pesquisa nas áreas de recursos hídricos e meio ambiente na Suécia. Fundada em 1966, o IVL tem desempenhado um papel fundamental na promoção da sustentabilidade e na resolução de desafios ambientais complexos na Suécia e em todo o mundo.

A consolidação do legado brasileiro no “Nobel da Juventude”

O Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo valoriza e reconhece o potencial e os esforços de jovens em um campo crítico para o futuro do planeta. Ao longo dos últimos anos, o SJWP tornou-se a principal premiação no campo da ciência e do meio ambiente, ocupando um papel de importância ao destacar o trabalho de jovens cientistas que contribuem para soluções relacionadas à água e à sustentabilidade. Com isso, em seu contexto específico, pode ser chamado de “Nobel da Juventude”.

Nesse sentido, a cada ano, o Brasil avança rumo ao tão sonhado Nobel ao investir na ciência juvenil. O legado de jovens como Amanda, e tantos outros, renova nossas esperanças e engaja atores de todos os segmentos da sociedade em uma agenda urgente e necessária em prol da melhoria da qualidade de vida e preservação do nosso planeta.

No Brasil, o SJWP é organizado pela Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Ambiental e Sanitária (ABES) por meio do Programa voluntário de Jovens Profissionais do Saneamento (JPS) e da Brazilcham Sweden. A continuidade do Prêmio tem sido possível graças ao apoio valioso de seus patrocinadores e apoiadores – instituições comprometidas com a juventude e com o meio ambiente, dentre elas: a Codevasf, a Scania Latin America, a Xylem, a Sanemar, a Sabesp, o Instituto Iguá de Sustentabilidade, a Compactor Cia de Canetas,  a Tap Air Portugal, o Grupo Mulheres do Brasil, a Rede Bandeirantes e a ABRAPS.
