Lançamento ocorreu após palestra sobre o mosquito Aedes aegypti

O Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo 2020 – Etapa Brasil foi lançado nesta sexta-feira, 29 de novembro, pelo programa Jovens Profissionais – JPS da ABES, que será responsável por toda organização da premiação no Brasil. As inscrições para envios de trabalhos estão abertas e vão até 20 de março de 2020 (acesse aqui)

O lançamento, que aconteceu na sede da ABES-SP, na capital paulista, foi apresentado por Álvaro Diogo Teixeira, coordenador nacional do JPS e coordenador geral do Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo no Brasil.

“Esse prêmio tem uma relevância muito grande porque ocorre na Semana Mundial da Água, segundo maior evento de água do mundo, depois do Fórum Mundial da Água, que ocorre de três em três anos. Quando é feita essa premiação, ela é conhecida como o Prêmio Nobel da Água”, disse o coordenador nacional do JPS.

 

Conforme explicado por Álvaro, o Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo é para jovens de 15 a 20 anos que estão no Ensino Médio inscreverem ideias e soluções relacionadas a água, como interface ambiental, de recursos hídricos, saneamento, energia e até mesmo resíduos, desde que os temas estejam relacionados a água.

A edição 2020 será a quarta vez em que o Brasil participa. A seleção dos projetos ocorre primeiro em uma etapa nacional, conforme explicado por Álvaro. Serão selecionados cinco projetos para fazer apresentação na final, que será em 05 de junho de 2020. Nesse dia vai ser selecionado um trabalho para representar o Brasil na Suécia.

“A ideia é que a gente tenha mentores e patrocinadores para apoiar os jovens finalistas para desenvolver as ideias, não somente com mentoria, mas com patrocínio ou adotando essas ideias nas empresas. Os projetos podem ser regionais, nacionais ou globais”, frisou Álvaro.

O Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo foi criado em 1997 pelo SIWI – Instituto Internacional de Águas de Estocolmo (Stockholm International Water Institute), e é organizado anualmente em duas etapas: uma nacional (das quais diversos países participam) e a etapa internacional na qual ocorre a grande final em Estocolmo na Suécia.

Segundo Maria Fernanda Garrubo Bentubo, coordenadora Estadual de São Paulo do JPS, as expectativas para o prêmio estão altas, principalmente com a participação de estudantes do Estado, porque é de onde parte a organização do prêmio.

“Para nós, que somos graduado na área, já é intrínseca essa importância, mas para o jovem que está no Ensino Médio, que é o grupo que abrange o prêmio, é muito importante para já lançar neles essa sensibilidade com a questão da água, do meio ambiente e da sustentabilidade, que é uma coisa que tem que partir da escola também e eles podem pegar esse gancho e entender a real necessidade que a gente tem nessa área. É importante para eles já terem contato com esse tema, para sacudir essa geração e conseguirmos mais profissionais especializados na área, formando esse time de jovens no saneamento”, afirmou a JPS.

Palestra sobre mosquito Aesdes aegypti na cidade de São Paulo

Antes do lançamento do Prêmio, foi realizada uma palestra gratuita sobre o mosquito Aesdes aegypti na cidade de São Paulo, promovida pela ABES-SP e pelo JPS-SP e ministrada pela tecnóloga em Saneamento, Olívia Gavioli.

Na ocasião, a palestrante, que tem especialização em Tecnologias Ambientais e é mestre em Ciências em Entomologia em Saúde Pública, falou também sobre o Aedes albopictus e sua relação com materiais descartados em jardins de unidades do Quadrilátero da Saúde, na capital paulista.

Os dados apresentados são resultado do mestrado de Olívia em Ciências, pela FSP-USP, por meio do Programa Entomologia em Saúde Pública.
