A linha do tempo da ABES iniciou no século passado, em 1966, pela iniciativa de uma equipe de engenheiros sanitaristas preocupados e comprometidos com a precária infraestrutura do saneamento ambiental do país, a qual reflete diretamente na qualidade de vida da população brasileira. Neste mesmo ano, foi criada a ABES Seção Pernambuco e em alguns outros estados, que juntas com a nacional comemoram seus 50 anos.

Ao longo da brilhante caminhada, a ABES-PE agregou engenheiros sanitaristas e outros profissionais, instituições públicas e privadas, indústrias, instituições de ensino técnico e superior, envolvidos com a temática.

Sempre presente na construção de políticas públicas, bem como realizando capacitações de profissionais, sediando dois Congressos Brasileiros de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental, em 1969 e em 2009, realizando seminários, participando em Conselhos de Meio Ambiente e em Comitês de Bacia, encontros com os diversos segmentos da sociedade envolvidos com a questão, contribuindo com as experiências de seus sócios para a mudança do nebuloso cenário do saneamento ambiental, sobretudo no nosso estado.

Diante do exposto, nós, que fazemos a ABES-PE, podemos dizer que comemoramos o nosso “Jubileu de Ouro” com a certeza de termos contribuído para a melhoria da qualidade de vida das pessoas. Mas, olhando o cenário ainda bastante crítico, sobretudo na região nordeste e norte, nesta data de celebração renovamos o nosso compromisso de continuidade.

Celebração 

A seção celebrará a data especial de meio século de existência nesta quarta-feira, dia 19 de outubro, às 19h.

A programação contará com Solenidade de Homenagens aos ex-presidentes e colaboradores da seção pernambucana da entidade; Apresentação do Coral da Companhia Pernambucana de Saneamento – Compesa – Águas do prata; e palestra da Compesa com o tema “Os Desafios para Avançar com o Esgotamento Sanitário de Pernambuco.”
