MP do Saneamento: sem consenso, Medida 868 deve perder a validade

A exemplo do que ocorreu em 2018 com a MP 844, a Medida Provisória 868, que trata da alteração do marco regulatório do setor de saneamento, não foi votada e deve perder a validade em 3 de junho. A proposta agora é virar um Projeto de Lei.

A ABES, juntamente com outras entidades do setor e da sociedade civil contrárias à MP, vinha, desde a reedição da Medida Provisória, demonstrando os impactos negativos ao saneamento e propondo alternativas. A entidade alertou e dialogou com o Governo Federal, defendendo, desde o princípio das conversações, que o dispositivo adequado seria um Projeto de Lei em vez de MP.

Representantes da ABES estiveram presentes em diversas audiências públicas e reuniões para defender o posicionamento da entidade. Por meio de seus canais e redes sociais e também pelos veículos de imprensa, a ABES buscou incessantemente esclarecer o setor e a sociedade sobre os efeitos da MP.

Desde outubro de 2017, quando o governo apresentou uma minuta de medida provisória sobre o tema, o país discute no clima do “nós contra eles”.

“Infelizmente o Brasil desperdiçou, mais uma vez, um tempo precioso em que poderíamos ter avançado no saneamento. A ABES, que há 53 anos trabalha pelo saneamento, pela saúde e pela qualidade de vida no Brasil, posicionou-se sempre pelo diálogo, na busca de um consenso, na defesa de um modelo que priorize a universalização, que defenda o desenvolvimento mais igualitário de todas as regiões do país”, ressalta o presidente Roberval Tavares de Souza. “A ABES defende que a união dos setores público e privado, aliada à excelência de gestão e à eficiência, pode fazer o saneamento avançar. E é em nome desta crença que queremos propor um pacto de união e colaboração do setor – público e privado – para que, num diálogo plural e democrático, consigamos alavancar o saneamento e mudar o lamentável quadro brasileiro”.
