Nota de pesar: Prof. José Roberto Campos da EESC-USP

A Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES profundamente o falecimento do Prof. José Roberto Campos, da Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos, da Universidade de São Paulo (EESC/USP), importante nome da Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental no Brasil, no dia 3 de março.

O Professor sênior da EESC-USP, Campos graduou-se em Engenharia Civil, seguindo para o curso de mestrado e doutorado em Engenharia Hidráulica e Saneamento, todos os títulos outorgados pela Escola nos anos de 70, 72 e 80, respectivamente. Ingressou como docente na EESC em 1972, tendo obtido em 1990 o título de livre-docente. De 93 até 2014, foi professor titular da EESC, quando então aposentou-se e passou a ser professor sênior. Campos também ocupou o cargo de chefe do Departamento de Hidráulica e Saneamento por duas vezes e presidente da Comissão de Pesquisa. Em 2005, foi o responsável pela criação do Laboratório de Microssensores e Biofilmes, um dos poucos no mundo aptos para produzir e aplicar micro sensores em estudos com biofilmes. Também teve muito destaque em atividades de extensão, estando envolvido em consultorias e projetos de diversas ações públicas como a Organização Panamericana de Saúde, o Consórcio Intermunicipal das Bacias dos Rios Piracicaba, Capivari e Jundiaí, Conselho de Orientação em Saneamento.
