É desta forma que Amanda Ribeiro Machado, de 18 anos, grande vencedora do Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo Brasil 2023 (Stockholm Junior Water Prize -SJWP), vê a iniciativa promovida pela Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, por meio do programa Jovens Profissionais do Saneamento – JPS, e pela Câmara Brasileira de Comércio na Suécia (Brazilcham Sweden).
Amanda cursa o Técnico em Administração integrado ao ensino médio no Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) – Campus Osório – que se destaca no prêmio pelo segundo ano consecutivo – e agora vai representar o Brasil na etapa internacional do prêmio, na Suécia, durante a Semana Mundial da Água de Estocolmo.
Sob orientação da professora Flávia Twardowski, nome também conhecido desde a edição passada, Amanda conquistou o primeiro lugar com o projeto “BIOGRAPE: Inovação para o Tratamento de Efluentes Têxteis a partir de Celulose Bacteriana do Vinho”. “O projeto é um agente transformador na minha vida. Mudou a minha vida completamente”, enfatiza Amanda.
Neste trabalho, a estudante pesquisou um material alternativo e ambientalmente sustentável para remover da água corantes utilizados pelas indústrias têxteis. Amanda submeteu resíduos da produção de vinho a um processo de fermentação, conseguindo assim desenvolver uma celulose bacteriana que foi capaz de fazer a remoção de materiais contaminantes da água. Desta forma, ela aproveitou resíduos gerados pela produção de vinhos e forneceu uma alternativa ecológica ao tratamento de efluentes das indústrias têxteis (Confira o vídeo do projeto).
“A elaboração e desenvolvimento do projeto não foi algo fácil, foi cheio de grandes desafios, enfrentamos uma pandemia, resultados que não deram certo. Mas a cada desafio que enfrentamos conseguimos ver uma oportunidade de fazer algo diferente, repensar todo um processo e isso foi o mais importante”, lembra Amanda. O projeto fez com que eu enxergasse meu lugar no mundo e aprendi que meu lugar no mundo é onde eu quiser estar. Através do projeto tive um empoderamento e confiança para conquistar o que eu quiser, sabendo que dependo do meu esforço e trabalho”, frisa a estudante.
“Confesso que ainda não acredito que o projeto foi o vencedor, parece um sonho”, diz. “Foi algo incrível, foi indescritível ouvir o nome do projeto sendo anunciado. Estar entre os finalistas já foi algo muito especial, ter o projeto escolhido para representar o Brasil foi algo inexplicável”, comemora a vencedora.
“Todos os momentos que tivemos na final foram muito especiais, aprendemos muito. Acredito que o maior prêmio que temos é a oportunidade que temos de conhecer tantos projetos brilhantes, termos uma troca com outros jovens e agora, ir para outro país, conhecer uma nova cultura”, relembra a estudante.
A vencedora foi anunciada em 22 de maio, durante o 32º Congresso da ABES, no Expominas, em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Este ano, o prêmio passou a integrar a grade de eventos dos Congressos ABES, o mais importante evento de saneamento ambiental do país, que nesta edição aconteceu de 21 a 24 de maio. Esta é a segunda vez que um projeto sob orientação de Flávia Twardowski é destaque no Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo. “Orientar a Amanda desde os seus 13 anos de idade tem sido não apenas um desafio, mas um presente. A ciência é coletiva e colaborativa e, ver a Amanda buscar soluções para problemas que a desacomoda é ver que a Educação e Pesquisa desde o ensino fundamental pode ressignificar a vida dos jovens”, afirma.
Para Flávia, a importância do projeto da Amanda é poder mostrar ao mundo que a ciência na educação básica é capaz de trazer inovações que além de mudar a sua vida pode mudar a vida de sua comunidade.
“Minhas orientadas Camily e Laura puderam, na edição de 2022, mostrar ao nosso país e ao mundo uma forma diferente de pensar na água e no saneamento, olhando toda a cadeia produtiva e como os absorventes femininos estavam relacionados a ela.
