ABES-DF: presidente fala à TV Senado sobre os desafios do saneamento no Brasil

Na última quinta-feira, 11, o presidente da ABES Seção Distrito Federal (ABES-DF), Marcos Helano Montenegro, foi um dos entrevistados do programa Município Brasil, da TV Senado, que abordou temas como: abastecimento de água, rede de esgoto, coleta de lixo e drenagem urbana. Os quatro serviços essenciais que englobam o saneamento básico e sua importância para a saúde, educação e até para a produtividade do trabalho também entraram na pauta.

No Brasil, cada serviço avança em velocidade diferente. Ainda hoje seis em cada dez municípios no país não dispõem de aterros sanitários para dar um fim adequado ao lixo. Especialistas alertam que o ambiente da maioria das cidades brasileiras favorece a multiplicação do mosquito Aedes aegypti, transmissor do zika vírus, da dengue e da febre chikungunya.

Montenegro destacou que estamos vivendo um estado de emergência de saúde pública de interesse nacional pela necessidade de combate ao mosquito Aedes aegypti. E que o remédio eficaz para combater essa epidemia não são os produtos químicos, mas sim, o saneamento básico.
