ABES apresenta experiência sobre a crise hídrica na Califórnia, em encontro promovido com AESABESP, APECS e ABIMAQ

A crise de escassez hídrica na Califórnia (EUA) e as experiências internacionais de água reciclada foram tema do encontro “Experiências na administração de secas na Califórnia”, promovido na última quarta-feira, 23 de setembro, no Espaço Vida, na SABESP Ponte Pequena, em São Paulo. O evento foi uma parceria da AESABESP com a ABES, a APECS e ABIMAQ.

Com auditório lotado, o encontro teve apresentações do presidente nacional da ABES, Dante Ragazzi Pauli, e de Viviana Borges, da AESABESP, que estiveram recentemente na Califórnia em uma comitiva para conhecer o trabalho do setor e as medidas de enfrentamento à crise implementadas pelos americanos. Da ABES–SP também integraram o grupo que viajou aos Estados Unidos o engenheiro Luiz Roberto Gravina Pladevall, tesoureiro da entidade e presidente da APECS – Associação Paulista de Empresas de Consultoria e Serviços em Saneamento de Meio Ambiente, e o diretor Helio Nazareno Padula Filho (veja lista completa abaixo). A comitiva foi organizada por iniciativa e despesas dos próprios profissionais.

“Com esse benchmarking, pudemos entender a crise na Califórnia e conhecer as ações adotadas para o uso racional da água. Visitamos estações de água reciclada, tivemos reuniões com reguladores e operadores de sistemas de água e esgoto e também conhecemos como é a participação dos consumidores no combate à crise”, explicou Pladevall, na apresentação do evento.

Em sua palestra, Dante mostrou como é feito o planejamento para o saneamento na Califórnia. “O Plano de Água tem programas claros, com investimentos previstos a longo prazo”. O presidente da ABES enfatizou ainda as ações de comunicação que os setores de saneamento colocam em prática para engajar a população no uso consciente da água e para esclarecer aos cidadãos sobre a água de reúso ou água reciclada, como os americanos chamam.

O grupo conheceu estações de reúso de água, como a Michelson Water Recycling Plant e o Groundwater Replenishment System, um dos maiores sistemas do mundo para água de reúso, e diversas empresas e departamentos responsáveis pelo saneamento em vários condados da Califórnia, como a West Basin Service Area, a Tillman Water Reclamation Plant, La Sanitation, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power e a Prefeitura de Los Angeles.

Para Dante, experiências como esta iniciativa do grupo de profissionais brasileiros têm importância fundamental para o setor de saneamento do país. “É essencial conhecer como este trabalho é feito em países que estão mais avançados. Ver o que é aplicável hoje em nossa realidade e como pode tornar-se aplicável daqui a alguns anos”, ressalta.

Além de Dante, o público assistiu às palestras de Viviana Borges, da AESABESP, que detalhou as visitas a cada estação de tratamento, e apresentações das experiências no desenvolvimento de projetos e instalações de água reciclada de Jack Bryck (Arcadis-Logos); Alexander Fortin e Helena Kubler (CH2M Hill do Brasil) e Eduardo A. Yassuda (TETRATECH Brasil).
