ABES-SE realiza I Fórum sobre coleta seletiva em Aracaju

A ABES Seção Sergipe promoveu, no dia 25 de novembro, em Aracaju, o primeiro Fórum sobre Coleta Seletiva no município. O evento, que foi mediado pela diretora da ABES-SE, Dra. Kelma Vitorino, teve por objetivo fomentar a discussão com representantes do poder público municipal, profissionais da área e a sociedade em geral sobre o tema proposto. Os debatedores foram o secretário municipal do Meio Ambiente, Dr. Eduardo Matos, e o presidente da Central de Cooperativas de Sergipe – Central RECICLE, Adriano Santos.

Estavam presentes no auditório da Codise (DIA) membros de cooperativas de catadores, servidores da Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente de Aracaju (SEMA), Empresa Municipal de Serviços Urbanos (EMSURB), Secretaria Estadual de Meio Ambiente e Recursos Hídricos (SEMARH), FUNAS A, Petrobras, CREA-SE, Companhia de Saneamento de Sergipe (DESO), professores e estudantes do Instituto Federal de Sergipe (IFS) e Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS), além de profissionais e membros da comunidade em geral.

 

Ao abrir o evento, o presidente da ABES-SE, José Alves Nunes, ressaltou a importância da temática da Coleta Seletiva desse I Fórum de Assuntos Sanitários e Ambientais, visto que as cidades cada vez mais apresentam dificuldades para implantar, ordenar e gerenciar de modo sustentável os resíduos gerados.

O secretário municipal do Meio Ambiente, Eduardo Matos, reconheceu que a coleta seletiva ainda está aquém do que deveria ser. “É preciso melhorar a logística e dar suporte às cooperativas”. Eduardo Matos destacou em sua palestra que um dos principais entraves para o desenvolvimento da coleta seletiva, hoje, no Brasil, está na falta de apoio a um dos conceitos introduzidos pela Lei 12.305/2010, da Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos, que é a responsabilidade compartilhada pelo ciclo de vida dos produtos. O secretário alertou que não só as empresas, mas também a população em geral, precisam assumir responsabilidade pelo meio ambiente, no entanto, isso exige uma mudança de comportamento que não acontecerá rapidamente.

O presidente da Central de Cooperativas de Sergipe – Recicle, Adriano Santos, ressaltou a importância da criação da Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente e que as cooperativas precisam receber uma maior quantidade de resíduos para gerar renda suficiente para manter os catadores. “O fortalecimento da coleta seletiva é necessário para o empoderamento das cooperativas, sendo importante o engajamento dos catadores no processo de coleta seletiva e educação ambiental da população. Momentos de diálogos como este, são muito importantes”

Após as discussões no I Fórum para Discussão de Assuntos Ambientais, foi redigida uma carta, com sugestões sobre o tema Coleta Seletiva de Aracaju, que deverá ser encaminhada aos governos e à sociedade civil em geral.
