Projeto gaúcho vence Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo Brasil 2023

Pelo segundo ano consecutivo, o primeiro lugar na premiação mais uma vez saiu do IFRS- Campus Osório. A estudante Amanda Ribeiro Machado, sob orientação da professora Flávia Twardowski, conquistou a etapa nacional com trabalho sobre inovação para o tratamento de efluentes têxteis a partir de celulose bacteriana. O anúncio foi feito durante o Congresso da ABES em BH.

Amanda Ribeiro Machado, estudante do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) – Campus Osório, é a grande vencedora da etapa Brasil 2023 do Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo (Stockholm Junior Water Prize -SJWP), promovida pela Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, por meio do programa Jovens Profissionais do Saneamento – JPS. Sob orientação da professora Flávia Twardowski, que se destaca pelo segundo ano consecutivo, Amanda conquistou o primeiro lugar com o projeto “BIOGRAPE: Inovação para o Tratamento de Efluentes Têxteis a partir de Celulose Bacteriana do Vinho”. 

Agora a jovem cientista representará o Brasil na etapa internacional, na Suécia, durante a Semana Mundial da Água de Estocolmo. 

A vencedora foi anunciada na segunda-feira, 22 de maio, durante o 32º Congresso da ABES, no Expominas, em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Este ano, o prêmio passou a integrar a grade de eventos dos Congressos ABES, o mais importante evento de saneamento ambiental do país, que nesta edição acontever de 21 a 24 de maio.

Amanda conquistou o primeiro lugar com o projeto “BIOGRAPE: Inovação para o Tratamento de Efluentes Têxteis a partir de Celulose Bacteriana do Vinho”.

Criado em 1997, pelo Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) – Instituto Internacional de Águas de Estocolmo, o Prêmio tem como patrona a princesa herdeira, Victoria da Suécia, e reúne jovens inovadores entre 15 e 20 anos do mundo todo, encorajando a juventude em desafios relacionados à água e à sustentabilidade. A competição ocorre em duas etapas: uma nacional, realizada em cada um dos países participantes, e outra internacional, na World Water Week. No Brasil, além da ABES/JPS, a realização é feita pela Câmara Brasileira de Comércio na Suécia (Brazilcham Sweden).

Cerimônia de Abertura

A abertura da premiação foi integrada por Renata Farias Oliveira, coordenadora do Prêmio SJWP,  Witan Silva, coordenador nacional do Programa de Jovens Profissionais do Saneamento da ABES, Flávia Mourão, presidente da ABES-MG, e Alceu Guérios Bittencourt, presidente da ABES; Dany Silvio Souza Leite Amaral, diretor de Gestão Ambiental da Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte,  Coronel Carlos Henrique Guedes, assessor especial representando o Governo do Estado de Minas Gerais, Marcelo Moreira, diretor presidente da Companhia Desenvolvimento dos Vales do São Francisco e Parnaíba (Codevasf), e Elisa Sohlman, diretora executiva da Brazilcham Sweden. Estiveram presentes também Alessandra Peres, diretora executiva da ABES, e Virginia Ribeiro, superintendente de Sustentabilidade da Sabesp (Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo).

Witan Silva, coordenador nacional do JPS, falou sobre a transformação que a premiação promove para incentivar os jovens estudantes e o desenvolvimento da ciência no Brasil.

“Que alegria estar aqui na minha terra celebrando a festa da ciência juvenil ao lado de amigos e amigas e de pessoas que tanto me inspiram. Nessa solenidade, a maior autoridade presente nesse auditório são os professores que transformam a educação em nosso país. Não é fácil educar, transformar e promover a ciência juvenil. Agradeço a cada uma das pessoas que fizeram esse prêmio acontecer, que fazem ele se tornar e elevar o nosso país ao mais alto pódio da ciência juvenil e colocar os estudantes em vitrine mundial”, afirmou o coordenador.

Renata Farias Oliveira, coordenadora do Prêmio SJWP, falou sobre a satisfação de estar na coordenação da premiação e o desenvolvimento dos projetos dos estudantes que podem fazer a diferença para a sociedade.

“É uma honra estar representando e coordenando o SJWP, esse dia representa um momento muito especial, que é o resultado de muito trabalho e dedicação desses jovens cientistas, seus orientadores e familiares, que confiaram em nós como organização da etapa brasileira para contribuir na divulgação e transformação de projetos para fazer a diferença pelo mundo afora. Os jovens foram engajados buscando soluções efetivas para as dificuldades que todos nós vivenciamos”, afirmou a coordenadora.

Flávia Mourão, presidente da ABES-MG, cumprimentou a todos pela iniciativa, que incentiva e move os jovens a uma consciência de cidadania e promover melhorias para o meio ambiente. “É muito legal poder ter sonhos e torná-los realidade. Parabenizo a todos pela participação e que podemos usufruir dessas grandes ideias que vão contribuir para o meio ambiente e sustentabilidade, finalizou Flávia.

Na sequência, Alceu Guérios Bittencourt lembrou que o ex-coordenador nacional do JPS, Álvaro Teixeira, trouxe a proposta e a diretoria nacional da ABES aprovou para o JPS viabilizar a coordenação da etapa Brasil da premiação.

“Foi uma construção dos nossos jovens profissionais e traz um significado maior estarmos aqui hoje recebendo os meninos, as meninas, os pais, os professores, os nossos finalistas e as ganhadoras da edição passada”, destacou. “Que a ABES possa estar contribuindo e abrindo os caminhos da técnica, da ciência, das ciências da água e saneamento para os jovens, que daqui uns anos possam integrar o JPS e possam continuar o trabalho que vem sendo feito. Cumprimento a todos e bom resultado aos participantes”, finalizou o presidente nacional da ABES.

Ao final da abertura, o sexteto da Orquestra Jovens das Gerais fez uma apresentação musical. Fundada em 1997 pelos músicos mineiros Renato Almeida e Rosiane Reis, a ONG Orquestra Jovem das Gerais é uma iniciativa voltada para a promoção do desenvolvimento humano por meio do acesso à arte, cultura e educação.

Apresentação dos projetos

Os finalistas apresentaram os seus projetos por vídeos e responderam às perguntas dos entrevistadores Marcelo Moreira, diretor presidente da Codevasf; Virginia Ribeiro, superintendente de Sustentabilidade da Sabesp; Sônia Mucciolo, business development manager da  Xylem Brasil; Renata Ruggiero Moraes, diretora presidente do Instituto Iguá de Sustentabilidade; e Mario Ramacciotti, diretor da Xylem Brasil.

Os outros projetos finalistas foram:

Biofiltro de Óleo Doméstico à Base da Fibra de Taboa (Typha Domingensis), de autoria de Stenio Candido Bezerra dos Santos Filho e Julia Graziela Rocha do Nascimento, alunos do Colégio Militar de Recife/PE, sob a orientação de Maria Goretti Cabral de Lima.

M-PLASFIL: Desenvolvimento de Membrana para Microfiltração e Retenção de Microplásticos, de autoria de Maria Gabriely Félix de Siqueira e Maria Luiza Souza Dantas, alunas da Escola Sesi (Prata – PB), sob orientação de  Eduardo Adelino Ferreira,

AQUA SOLIS: Sistema Solar de Purificação da Água, sob a orientação de Raimundo Nonato Lima Junior de autoria de Maria Clara Moreira Bonfim, aluna do Instituto Federal do Ceará (Campus Crateús – CE).

Biossorventes Utilizados no Processo de Remoção de Paracetamol em Efluentes: Estudo da Eficácia entre a Cinza e o Pó da Casca de Arroz, de autoria de Raissa Borges de Oliveira  Leal e Nicolly Keyth Guilger Ichiba, estudantes da ETEC Irmã Agostina (São Paulo) sob a orientação de Klauss Engelmann. O projeto foi representado por Raissa Borges de Oliveira.

Participação Especial

Camily Pereira dos Santos e Laura Nedel Drebes,  vencedoras da edição da etapa nacional do prêmio em 2022 e e foram reconhecidas na etapa internacional na categoria Diploma Of Excellence do Stockholm Junior Water com o projeto “SustainPads: Absorventes Sustentáveis e acessíveis a partir de subprodutos industriais”, marcaram presença na cerimônia. As jovens que foram destaque nos mais diversos veículos de imprensa do país, inclusive na Forbes Under 30 e na revista Glamour, contaram como foi participar da premiação e falaram palavras de incentivo para as finalistas. 

“Vocês já são vitoriosos por chegarem até aqui, a ciência é coletiva. Parabenizo a todos que estão envolvidos nessa rede tão forte e importante, que é a ciência e o protagonismo jovem. Agradeço a organização do Prêmio, aos apoiadores e patrocinadores.  Vocês fomentam e incentivam os jovens. Não consigo colocar e medir em palavras o que SJWP significa em nossas vidas. Muito obrigada por nos ajudar a nos impulsionar”, disse Laura.

Já Camilly agradeceu a oportunidade de estar presente na premiação e elogiou a qualidade dos projetos apresentados.

“A premiação é muito especial para nós, gostaria de parabenizar as finalistas, os projetos de vocês são incríveis. É emocionante estar aqui e ver a transformação que a ciência e o Prêmio Jovem da Água de Estocolmo está proporcionando para a vida desses jovens”, finalizou

As outras participantes foram Fernanda Andrade, líder do Grupo Mulheres do Brasil – núcleo BH, diretora da Federaminas Mulher e conselheira da Cruz Vermelha Brasileira – Filial MG, e Luiza Helena Trajano, embaixadora da premiação.
