XX Silubesa: presidente da Comissão Organizadora Local fala sobre importância do evento

A importância do XX Simpósio Luso-Brasileiro de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – Silubesa é cada vez mais reconhecida ao longo das edições. Neste ano, o evento será realizado na Universidade de Aveiro, em Portugal, de 29 de junho a 1 de julho, em formato híbrido. 

O presidente da Comissão Organizadora Local da vigésima edição do Simpósio, Armando B. da Silva Afonso, fala ao Portal ABES Notícias sobre a relevância que o encontro tem ganhado ao longo dos anos, com reconhecimento por parte da comunidade técnico-científica de Portugal e do Brasil. “Nota-se também um crescente interesse e participação nesta iniciativa por parte dos países africanos de língua oficial portuguesa”, ressalta.

O Silubesa é promovido pela Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, em parceria com a Associação Portuguesa de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental APESB e a Associação Portuguesa de Recursos Hídricos – APRH. 

O tema central da desta edição é “Água e Sustentabilidade Ambiental: Desafios e ação” e remete a um dos pilares da Agenda 2030 da ONU e os seus Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável. As inscrições de trabalhos podem ser feitas neste link.

ABES Notícias – Neste ano, o Silubesa chega à 20ª edição. Em sua visão, qual é a importância da realização evento? 

Armando B. da Silva Afonso – O Silubesa tem sido, ao longo dos anos, um importante evento de língua portuguesa, contribuindo para um enriquecimento de conhecimentos e para uma troca de experiências entre Portugal e o Brasil no âmbito da engenharia sanitária e ambiental.  

O fato de se alcançar a vigésima edição, mostra bem que o tema não tem perdido atualidade nem importância, antes pelo contrário, e que o evento tem merecido elevado reconhecimento por parte da comunidade técnico-científica de Portugal e do Brasil. Nota-se também um crescente interesse e participação nesta iniciativa por parte dos países africanos de língua oficial portuguesa. 

ABES Notícias – Como está sendo feita a organização do evento, considerando a distância entre o Brasil e Portugal e os desafios trazidos pela pandemia de covid-19? 

Armando B. da Silva Afonso – A pandemia obrigou, efetivamente, a alterar o formato destes eventos, que, em regra passaram do presencial para o digital. Na verdade, para além da evidente proteção da saúde pública, esta alteração revelou outra vantagem, que é a facilidade de participação, em particular para quem está à distância. 

Contudo, o formato “online” prejudica o contacto pessoal, que é muito importante nestes eventos, fomentando a ligação entre os especialistas e a troca de ideias e potenciando projetos comuns. Foi por esta razão que se procurou regressar este ano ao formato presencial, inequivocamente mais enriquecedor do ponto de vista do contacto social. Contudo, não esquecendo as vantagens do formato à distância, vamos tentar manter algumas sessões neste formato, promovendo um evento híbrido. 

ABES Notícias – Neste ano, o lema é “Água e Sustentabilidade Ambiental: Desafios e ação”. Como foi feita a escolha do tema e quais são as principais reflexões que podem ser trazidas sobre este assunto? 

Armando B. da Silva Afonso – Muitos temas podem ser discutidos no âmbito da engenharia sanitária e ambiental, cujo domínio técnico e científico é muito amplo. No entanto, ninguém ignora que os principais desafios do nosso tempo se centram na sustentabilidade do nosso planeta. 

A própria ONU deu o mote, estabelecendo os chamados ODS – Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável, que são, na realidade, uma agenda mundial adotada durante a Cimeira das Nações Unidas sobre o Desenvolvimento Sustentável de 2015, englobando 17 objetivos e 169 metas a serem atingidos até 2030. 

Ao escolher o tema “Água e Sustentabilidade Ambiental: Desafios e Ação”, procuramos dar o nosso contributo para esta causa, cuja importância e urgência ninguém negará.
