Diretora nacional da ABES participa de reunião na Cosanpa sobre uso de flúor em água de consumo humano

N0 dia 13 de abril, a diretora nacional da ABES, Vera Braz, representou a entidade na reunião do GT Flúor, promovida pela  Companhia de Saneamento do Pará – Cosanpa na sede da empresa, em Belém/PA. Além da ABES e da Cosanpa, participaram também do encontro representantes da Agência Reguladora Municipal de Água e Esgoto de Belém – AMAE e do Instituto Federal do Pará – IFPA.

De acordo com Vera, o Grupo de Trabalho foi informado que, além da Lei 6.050/74, há no município a Lei 7530/91, que também estabelece a fluoretação da água de consumo humano. Ela conta que seria importante a presença de um profissional da odontologia, o que não aconteceu e por isso combinou-se uma nova reunião, com o grupo maior, contando com a participação de um pesquisador na área odontológica, e ainda representantes da UFPA e da UEPA.

“Como a Companhia não tem condições econômicas, no momento, de reiniciar a fluoretação, como ideia preliminar, sugeriu-se a implementação desta em um setor abastecido por poço, pois seria mais fácil se adaptar um sistema de fluoretação”, explica Vera. “Também será realizado um levantamento do índice de cáries nas crianças da cidade nos períodos em que houve a fluoretação da água e o atual”, informa ela.

“Um assunto muito interessante que espero gere estudos principalmente sobre a pertinência do uso de flúor na água de consumo, pois há muita polêmica a respeito”, destaca Vera.
