O engenheiro é um dos vinte membros da ACEAL e ocupará a cadeira de número 19.

Na última segunda-feira, 12 de dezembro de 2022, foi fundada a Academia Alagoana de Engenheiros Escritores – ACEAL. Na solenidade, que aconteceu no Clube de Engenharia de Alagoas, em Maceió, foram empossados vinte acadêmicos, entre os quais o engenheiro Álvaro José Menezes da Costa, diretor nacional da Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, que ocupará a cadeira de número 19.
